Life can be very uncertain. The economy can go up or down; nations can rise and fall; relationships can come and go. Fortunately, there is something that never changes. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. One of the greatest things about that truth is the peace that we find in it.
Jesus Christ offers us hope for a future with God. That is a future that we otherwise would not know. Unfortunately, humanity is not on a very good footing with God. As a matter of fact, we start out separated from Him because of something in our lives called sin. Sin is simply the things that we do that displease or defy God. The Bible tells us that everyone sins and consequently falls under the anger of God.
Because of God's perfect nature, sin is intolerable to Him. He is loving and forgiving but is always consistent with His own perfect nature. Since God cannot tolerate sin and expresses His anger through judgment toward sin, it would seem there is no hope for us to escape His angry judgment and His condemnation to eternal punishment in hell.
Yet, there is hope. God chose to express his anger in judgment a different way. Rather that forcing us to receive it thoughout eternity, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to receive His anger in our place. Jesus lived perfectly and never disobeyed or defied God. Because of His perfection, He could pay the penalty for our sin and He did so when he died on the cross. All of our sin was placed in His body so that when He died, He took its penalty in our place.
Then, something even more amazing happened. He rose from the dead demostrating that even death could not keep Him from completeing God's mission. The Bible says that He ascended back into heaven and He is sitting at God's right hand advocating for His people.
The Bible also tells us this, "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to be called children of God." To be a child of God is to receive Jesus Christ into your life. When we do that, so many things change. Hopelessness becomes hope; anxiety becomes peace; sin becomes forgiven; death becomes life. Please contact us if you would consider recceiving Jesus today.
